"Sword of the spirit"... the word of God..I totally LOVE!
When i was a young christian, i never really could understand why people are able to spend time studying or reading the Bible.. to me it was a total chore! Ha!
But i've grown to love not just Him, but His every Word, both written and spoken. I've realised the immense truth in every sentence, every punctuation and every paragaph, that no mere human words can compare.
No wonder the Bible says that the extent you love the Word is the extent you love God.
Last Sunday, the CGLs had dinner at Rolands. Dr AR Bernard came and he shared from the word.
And in that short span of 15mins, i was blown away by yet another revelation about leadership that i've never known.
John 13:1-9 spoke about Jesus washing the feet of the disciples.
Question: Was Jesus serving them or was He leading them?
Jesus was leading them. He LED by SERVING.
And thats the way the kingdom of God works.
Servant is my identity. It is who I am. And as a servant, nothing is beneath me. I don't choose the time, the "how", the place, the "who" to serve.
Leading is what I do.
"Servant is who i am, lead is what i do"
So, are you a leader who serves? Or a servant who leads?
"Disappointment becomes a common friend in this ministry"... as aptly described by a friend of mine..
If Jesus was disappointed... If Jesus was slandered against... If Jesus was constantly misunderstood... Likewise we would too...
Philippians 3:10 (New King James Version) "that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,"
I'm reminded that this fellowship is a privilege..
I thank God for trench buddies around me, who inspires me to "dig" on and makes the "digging" a whole lot easier to bear.
This is pok pok! ( Eh it's the same series la, but just imagine a few scratches, some dents here and there, you'll get the real deal..ha)
Anyway, recently POK POK took part in an F1 race.... !
Competitor??
.
.
.
only a Porsche.. chey..
The race took place on 17th Jan, on the track course between Lido to Gleneagles. Pok pok was happily taking us to Gleneagles to see handsome Jordan!
Pok Pok had to stop at the red light.. then a very "DAO" looking Porsche (Pors -CHEY? haa) stopped right beside Pok Pok. Hmmm.. we sensed some unfriendly vibes as the not-so-cool driver stared at the always-very-cool driver of Pok Pok, as if Pors -chey wanted to challenge Pok Pok.
Well, Pok Pok couldn't be bothered la.. so the light turned GREEN and Pors-chey ZOOMED ahead.. and we just POK-ED ahead.. and guess wat?!! We met again at the next traffic light.. how lame..
Anyway, we passed by several traffic lights and of cos Pors-chey zoomed ahead of Pok Pok. But we met AGAINat the 4th traffic light junction. soooo lame.. (didn't he know that zoom-ing takes up more petrol than pok-ing? )
So as usual, Pok Pok thought Pors-chey will zoom ahead again.. but haa! Not this time.. the rain came pouring down and Mr Pors-chey had to stop at the next bus stop to scramble for the shelter ( Pors-chey had it's cover kept all along , how "smart")..
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us"
Life is made up of the decisions and choices that we make everyday. Happiness is a decision, and contentment is a choice.
Circumstance that is beyond us arises, and we choose whether to overcome it or to be overcome by it. Stress comes our way, and it is up to us to decide how we should respond to it. Doors are opened to us, and we decide whether or not to jump at it. Critcisms are thrown at us, and we gotta choose whether or not to be affected by it.
Most of the time, we come across the values of those around you. Some have values that affect us more than the values of others due to varying reasons.
Some of the values are meant to liberate, while others tend to restrict. Once again, we gotta choose. To be affected by it in a positive or negative way, or to discard it totally.
So with common sense, discernment and with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, let's discern what is more important lest we live in a perpetual bondage.
We were busy counting down on 31st Dec. Nope it wasn't for year 2008 yet... we were counting down to the time for restitution at 10pm at Paya Lebar... (hmm.. it shall be a secret)..
Well Mimi, DT and I spent the whole afternoon buying gifts and making a special "card"..
After we settled the gifts, we realised we had left with little time to do the special "card"... so WE immediately got down to work at Starbucks @ Paragon...
WE were hard at work..or rather mimi was hard at work.. hur hur
Talented Mimi was so engrossed, she didn't realise DT added a feather to her straw... haa
Guess what were we doing ???
TADAH!
.
.
HEE!! We were so busy!! Lemme explain the 1st 2 pics.. i tried to look as if i was sneezing, but all thanks to the "fabulous" skill of DT, i looked like i'm digging my nose with a feather, and subsequently looked like i've lost a front tooth.
I think i look better without the mask =)... it's not easy to drink my ice latte with a mask on, for one, i couldn't find my mouth!!
Here's a weird adaptation of Pochahontas..... it's more like Pocha"HANTU"... haaa!!!! Told you we were busy le.. haa
Mimi couldn't resist not posing with the mask.. and well, the moment she put on her specs, the think the whole of starbucks could hear us laugh.. opps!
Well we were good multi-tasking.. so we still manage to complete the mask..
DT, i must say, you look sooooooo much better with the mask on!!!!
